Random Post 2 - Meet Millie!
Meet my golden doodle, Millie! Millie came into my life in August 2020, when we picked her up from her previous family in Corona, California, three hours away from where I live. Millie actually was not a planned puppy. Her previous family had two golden doodles and they were having a bit too much fun over the pandemic, and therefore Millie was born! She was only 5 pounds and 8 weeks old the first day she came to our house, and her little bunny hopping around the grass in our backyard made me fall in love with her.
The funny thing is that I HATED DOGS before Millie came into my life. I was deathly afraid of them biting, barking, and jumping on me. EVERYTHING. If there was a dog at my friend's house, I simply would not go. That was the extent of my fear. However, my sister and my mom always loved dogs. Ever since I was a child my sister has asked for a dog for Christmas, but it was never taken seriously because of how much I was afraid of dogs. However, my senior year of high school they decided that if there was any time to get a dog it would be then. That way I could get used to having a dog and bond with her before I left for college. And that is exactly what happened.
I have never looked back since. Millie is one of the biggest reasons why I am compelled to go back home every month. I genuinely have a dependency on her being my biggest support system and always being there for me at home. But her favorite family member is my dad. They have a unique bond that I truly have never seen before. He was also afraid of dogs, but now they are inseparable. They go on coffee runs together in the morning, and she keeps him accountable for taking her for two walks a day. They operate as one unit. As soon as my dad goes up to sleep, Millie is up in bed with him. If Millie is sleepy, then my dad decides it's time to sleep.
I never realized the value a pet adds to your life until Millie came into mine. The value of having someone who is always there for you with pure excitement, joy, and love is unmatched!
Millie is very cute. This is a really funny coincidence, but my neighbors actually started fostering a Golden Doodle today. Right when I saw the picture of Millie, I thought that it could have been their dog. This also made me miss my two dogs, who I get to see in a week.
ReplyDeleteYour dog is absolutely adorable. I never had a pet but my cousins did and since I was at their house basically every weekend, their dog also felt like my dog. I loved reading your post and I am now inspired to try and convince my family to get a dog of our own. However, my dad is a cat person so we'll see how that goes.
ReplyDeleteHi Eshayna,
ReplyDeleteShe's so cute! I love that Millie was able to make you a dog lover. I can relate to you wanting to go home to see her. I am constantly thinking about my dogs and will drive down to OC just to sit and do nothing with my dogs. I also see my dogs a support system. I know they can't talk but I still feel they can empathize with me (I promise I'm not crazy).
Thanks so much for sharing this with us, Eshayna. Your dog is so cute and you did such a great job of explaining what Millie means to you. I have always wanted a dog but never was allowed to have one. Great job!
ReplyDeleteHey Eshayna! Great post. As a dog lover, I am glad that Millie was able to make you love dogs. I've always wanted a dog, but Parisian apartments are a bit small especially for the bread that I want the Great pyrenees. I will definitely get one as soon as I graduate.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing with us! Millie is adorable and I'm glad that she has been an opportunity for you to be reintroduced to dogs as a whole.
